Logging For Life

Founded in 1997, Shamco, Inc. is a cut-to-length timber harvesting and trucking company. Our customers benefit from our decades of experience in the forest, and we’re not stopping any time soon.

Currently run by the third generation of Shamion family members and with more than 60 total years experience in the timber harvesting industry, we know how to harvest timber efficiently and safely. And we know our work isn’t finished until the sites are cleaned up and replanted.

With around 35 employees ranging from heavy machine operators to office staff, Shamco, Inc., is an important business in our Iron River and Upper Peninsula communities.

The people of Shamco, Inc. serve our community by raising funds and participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life as well as the “Granny Gearing Up - Pedaling for a Cure” event, both of which honor loved ones who are fighting or have had cancer in the past.

In addition, some of the most important work we do outside our normal day-to-day operations is to teach kids and young adults about sustainable forestry. Since we live, work and play in the communities of Upper Michigan and northern Wisconsin, we sincerely enjoy giving back to the people who have supported us throughout the years.

Community Involvement

Because we live and work in the communities we serve, giving back is a no-brainer. It’s not even something “extra.” We also walk the walk. Here are some of the causes we support:

  • American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life - Shamco supports the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Iron county Cancer Unit. After losing a grandparent and three close friends to cancer, this cause is very important to us.
  • American Legion Reino Post 21 - Shamco participates in a walk-a-thon to raise money for the Emergency Veteran Fund in Stambaugh, Michigan.
  • Forest Park Industrial Arts - Shamco supports the local building trades by contributing to the local Industrial Arts Program.
